Magnette crew wins again and takes Championship

It was another win for Graham Mayes and Keith Howard on Charles Harrison's Regularity Run on Sunday 9th May which wrapped up the Winter Series Championship in their favour. In a close second place just 9 seconds behind were Ryan Pickering and Lisa Marshall who had driven their Triumph Vitesse all the way from Southampton to compete. After taking a month out to organise a round, Graham Mayes & Keith Howard returned in the MG Magnette to win the April Regularity Run. Passage checks using signposts made a change from looking for codeboards, but inaccuracies cost several crews dearly, including Max & Dave Hughes who could have made it two wins in a row if they had read a signposts pointing to Perry Wood properly. Sadly only six cars started and marshals were in short supply as well, but all cars kept close to the time schedule allowing Andy Elcomb to dash around and marshal four IRTCs. March Hare Results

Nine cars turned out for our second evening 12-car rally, a 50-mile route through 8 time controls starting and finishing at The Plough. Plot and bash route instructions tested the navigators and all were caught out with at least one wrong approach. Despite their wrong approach to the final TC, Chris Scudder and Andy Elcomb took the win by 4 minutes from the Morris Minor Traveller of Richard Dresner and Chris Winter. Full results are >>HERE

Regularity Run Date Changes

Due to availability of organisers, we have changed the dates of the last two rounds of the Blackpalfrey Winter Series. They will now be on Sunday 18th April, organised by Andy Gibson and Sunday 9th May. organised by Charles Harrison. Both events will be run in the East Kent area, on map 179. Hughes win on the March Madness

Graham & Keith's March Madness regularity run on 7th March was won by 21 year old Max Hughes with father Dave navigating in the Citroen Saxo. On a beautiful sunny (but chilly) Sunday morning, the route ventured south from Paddock Wood, down around Bewl Water and finished at Goudhurst. Sadly only 6 cars started the rally after a couple of late cancellations. Full results are >>HERE

Mick and Karen gain their First Win

Mick Rose and Karen Savory had an excellent run to win John & Tom's February regularity run. The event took in many of the favourite rally roads around the North Downs, including Queendown Warren, Pilgrims Way and the Hucking 90's. Full results are >>HERE

January Marsh Maze Regularity Run

Trevor Hawkins and Simon Ingarfield in the SAAB 96, took their first ever rally win on 3rd January, in an icy run around the Marshes organised by Dave Hughes. Full results breakdown can be found >>HERE

November Regularity Run

Dropping just 8 seconds in the second half, John Fowler and Tom Ash pulled the A40 up from 5th place to win Trevor & Simon's November Regularity Run. Full results breakdown is on the Results page >>HERE

Blackpalfrey's first evening 12-car rally for about 30 years took place on Tuesday 10th November. Regrettably only 5 cars started the 50-mile route across the North Downs crossing between maps 178 and 189 and they all found it quite a challenge. Getting lost, navigator sickness and running out of petrol were the main problems. Full results breakdown >>Here

Thanks from the ERA Casablanca Challenge

"An excellent start to the event and many thanks for all your hard graft this morning. We are now at Le Mans and cars are starting to arrive. Drivers raving about the real rallying before Dover.

One car cleaned Mereworth (Paul Heal, red and white MG ZR), and we think a dozen cleaned Kings, a few more than we anticipated, but all very pleased with their runs. Perhaps another chicane or two and a lollypop would have tightened up Kings a bit, we never stop learning at this game, do we.

Blackpalfrey Members on the Rally of the Tests

A Team Blackpalfrey was entered but we were no match for the winning team of Alfas, all 3 of which finished ahead of our highest placed car. It was good to see Mike Anderson, who travelled from Australia especially to compete in the Regis Rally and the Rally of the Tests on consecutive weekends, then flew back again.

Autumn Leaves won by a second

The first event in the new Winter Series saw an incredibly close finish with Richard & Colin beating Graham & Keith by just one second. These two crews were well ahead of the rest of the field. Starting from Whitstable, the 65-mile route in NE Kent stopped at the Wingham Wildlife Park for coffee and finished in the centre of Sandwich. Full results are >>HERE

Glorious Day for Hughes Rally

The 2009 Hughes Rally was run on Kent's hottest day of the year so far, with 58 cars tackling five regularity section and nine tests at Mereworth Woods, Newhouse Farm and Headcorn Aerodrome. Winners were James Griffiths/James Howell from Essex in their Mini 1275GT.

Winters win the Hassel Trophy

Winners of the Hughes Rally's Hassel Trophy for the Best Blackpalfrey crew were Steven and Chris Winter

in their Volvo 144 with a commendable 4th place overall. Next best Blackpalfrey member was Charles Harrison who finished 23rd overall and would have been fastest overall on the tests in the Triumph 2000 had he not stalled the engine on the very last test.

The Blackpalfrey Motor Club of Kent Ltd is pleased to announce a Club Championship for Rally Drivers and Navigators, commencing on 1st January 2009.
